Top 10 Worst/Best Athlete-Rappers

Summertime is the offseason for most professional sports except baseball. And most of the time, these professional athletes dive into their hobbies. Some go on vacation, throw a charity event or two or if the fans are lucky, they’ll record a hip-hop album.

So when we were putting together this list we didn’t know if we should do it as best or worst rapping athletes. In all honesty, all of them are terrible, and we can’t even rank them. If we were going by sales, of course Shaquille O’Neal would be number one, selling 2 million copies of his Shaq-Fu hip-hop, but as we know, skills on the mic wasn't the selling point.

So without further ado, here are 10 Rapper athletes since Shaq made it okay for athletes to rap as a possible career. Good? Bad? You decide what is best or worst.

40 Bars – Allen Iverson – Out of everybody, Iverson sounds the most natural on the mic. Plus the beat is pretty dope. A.I. caught a lot heat for this joint though.



Gangsta, Gangsta – C-Webb (Chris Webber) – This joint featured Kurupt, which helps the quality of the track… but ehhh. Never heard anything else from him though.



Haters – Ron Artest – This is probably the best track on Artest’s album, which isn’t saying much. We like the track because he discusses the whole thing that went down at The Palace.



Fast Life – Andre Rison – This song wasn’t too bad until Andre Rison grabbed the mic. Ghostface ripped the track!



Livin’ Legal and Large – Gary Payton - Payton got a hot beat, sounds like some Bay area funk that Too Short or E-40 would spit over. But don’t anticipate them being on this joint.



Ya Don’t Stop – Dana Barros, Cedric Ceballos, Sadat X – Back when this joint came out in 1994, it seemed like there was potential for athlete rappers. But listening almost 15 years later… nah, don’t think so.



Thug Poet – Kobe Bryant feat Broady Boy and 50 Cent – What you didn’t know 50 was down with Kobe? But after what happened to Iverson and his rap project, Kobe scrapped his entire situation.



Tru Luv – T-Hud (Troy Hudson) feat. Ray J. – Troy Hudson is the latest athlete rapper getting ready to drop an album. Ummm yeah.



L'effet Papillon - Tony Parker feat Jamie Foxx – We’re not sure what T-Pizzle is saying since it’s all in French, but it’s probably about Eva Langoria. Actually his whole album is in French so it’s hard to judge his skills. But we’re not expecting much.



Body Head Anthem – Roy Jones Jr. – First of all, naming his crew Body Head Bangerz is suspect in itself, but then talking about slapping females (maybe they’re talking about dudes?) and such is on a whole other level. Imagine if he came out with this today, post-Imus. Wow.
