So what's a biter? A biter is someone who steals lyrics, flows, voices, beats, styles, images, dances, and whatever else you can think of and claims it as their own. Biting is running rampant in hip-hop nowadays and and everybody is giving it a pass. back when hip-hop wasn't a multi-millionaire dollar corporation, folks got beat down for biting. Nowadays, biting is how you make a hit. But here at Street Census, Rizoh and I are sick of it and we're putting these cats on blast. Here's our Top 10 Bitin' emcees (If we missed anyone add them in the comments):
10. Jay-Z (Biggie) - Nas pretty much summed it up, "How much of Biggie's rhymes is gonna come out your fat lips?" Any die-hard Biggie fan who has all the unreleased material knows that Jigga has been quoting Biggie since day one. At least he admitted it.
9. Fat Joe (Jay-Z, Biggie, Big Pun) - When Fat Joe dropped his debut album back in 1993, he had a style all his own, but he really didn't blow up. But after seeing Biggie blow up, he went from the Carrhart jacket and Timberland look to the designer suits and button-ups. And just continued to hop on whatever bandwagon was hot from Jay-Z to Pun to Murda Inc.
8. Fabolous (Jay-Z) - A classic case of mimicking what was selling. At least Fab is just now growing into his own. Just a little bit though. Still needs to fix his chipped tooth.
7. Ja Rule (2pac) - Come on, it's obvious! From the bandanna, the shirtless videos, the singy-songy rhyme style, it's all lifted from Pac.
6. Memphis Bleek (Jay-Z) - This was obvious too, but the difference is he had permission to do it. It was the classic big brother/little brother relationship. But it didn't matter mow many cameos Jigga did, how much advice he gave him, it just wasn't going to work.
5. MIMS (Jay-Z) - Listening to MIMS debut album, you can tell that he was listening to Jay-Z growing up. Down from the voice, the flow, even the freaking ad-libs. MIMS is a Jigga clone.
4. P. Diddy (Mase) - P. Diddy used to rap way back in the day (peep the video), but he totally changed his steez after he signed Mase. That lazy, monotone rhyming style he has is all Mase. Actually, before he met Mase, Diddy was actually biting 3rd Eye's style.
3. Da Brat (Snoop) - When Da Brat first dropped in 1994 her whole style was an absolute copy of Snoop Dogg. From her voice and cadence to her whole look. Jermaine Durpi should have known better.
2. Master P (2pac) - Actually, P is worse than Ja. Not only did he mimic Pac's rhyme cadence, P actually took Pac lines and lyrics and made entire songs out of them. Oh yeah, "Is There Heaven for a Gangsta?" is a Pac lyric.
1. Lil Kim (Biggie, Jay-Z, Eminem, Damian Marley) - For most of her career she's been living off of Bigge's style and flow, but her last album, The Naked Truth, she went all out biting Jay's steez, Eminem's rhyme style and even freakin' Damian Marley! Uhhh yeah, compare Kim's flow on "Lighters Up" to Damian's "Welcome to Jamrock". I don't know how that album got five mics.

50 Cent (Ja Rule) - clowned Ja Rule for being an R&B thug and has practically turned into Ja Rule
The Game(EveryBody, Dr. Dre especially). I don't know how this nigga did'nt make the list.
What, no Wayne?
This dude done jacked shit from Jay, Clipse, and Dipset...HEAVY.
Still a good list tho.

where is Shyne, and Gurella Black?
Jay-Z shouldn't even be on the list! Wayne should definitely be in it. Other than those two glaring issues, it's a cool list.
nas, stole from wu big jay and pac he went from street poet to drug zsar then to jays lackey
"Lord have mercy, Jesus Christ, He's just nice, he just slice, like a ginzu"
Nas bit that from that track Biggie did with Prince Po and MOP so when it comes to biting Biggie, ah forget it, half the game bites Biggie. *Sigh*
Lighter's Up=I Come From Jamrock
Haha...I'm glad someone else noticed that too!
The whole hip hop industry for the past 10 years been trying to replace Pac, Suckas that will never be done! RIP PAC.
I was a fan of both but...
Heavy D was notorious for biting the style of whomever was hot at the time he was recording his current albums. And speaking of Notorious, it's pretty well acknowledged that BIG changed his style after he befriended Pac while he was in NYC shooting Juice by jacking his inflections.
It's nothin' though: EVERYBODY steals from somebody in hip hop - the music was based on that from beginning. Taking from older/other sources and turning it into something new or at least flipping it and putting your own spin on it is the very essence of hip hop, no?
King do me a favor, accidently jump out of the next 10 story building you see. your probablly 10 years old saying Nas stole form Jay, When nas came out with his first feature where was jay z? Plus Jay went form a poet, to tlaking all that drug ish, to a grown man. During that time every rapper was on that esco ish. lol, u mindless stan. ur parents lost when they.. do the rest.
B.I.G. jacked Kool G's style. Every above average emcee took something from Rakim as well. Do your history.
Do my history? Please. Everyone needs to know there's a difference between being inspired or influenced by someone and straight jackin' their style. BIG and Kool G's style are worlds apart from each other, even though I would agree many emcees are influenced by Kool G and Rakim.
The Game(Dre., Snoop, 50, Buck, Jay...etc The Whole world.) This nigga bites of me. How you gon be on the change of hearts with a G-Pack and a Pistol cryin. Soft Cookie ass nigga.
Jay-Z has also copped stuff from The Jaz and Big L...
who said jay-z shouldn't be on this list, I expected him to be in the one slot. fool need's to not disrespect big l so much by biting, it's sad, I fucking hate jay-z. and big-l is my fav rapper hands down.
biting is going crazy, especially now, everyone bites whats hot, and i dont get how jay-z is number ten, he should be more like number 1....he sucks....but thATS BESIDE the point....any rapper thats been introduced since...hmm...2005ish should be on this list
damn its alot of jay-z haters. look at the history of hip hop. jacking beats started every thing off. Pac took from Rakim, Biggie took from Pac (READY TO DIE WE ALL KNOW THAT WAS 2PAC, Jay-z took from biggie, and Nas stole from all of the above. but where would the game be without all of these for emcee's. stop hatting enjoy the music. cause when J really leaves whats left "lil wayne".

Nas did not bite Pac or Biggie are you serious illmatic compared to NONE of the above. But as for rakim yes you can tell there was an influence and even kool g. To suggest Nas took anything from Jay-z except his dignity should be kicked. Other than that i will do my real history and say most hiphop artists have bit or were influenced from Grand Master Flash's the Message...
It was just a little while back when hot new songs were popin off left and right on the radio, then it comes to a screatching halt. I can't prove it, but rapers are bitin' a no name raper, that is flowin hard in his hood. I've had the chance to hear him first hand, and he blows away all current artists who are mainstream. He thinks folks recorded ALOT of his best flows. He showed me how they recorded w/out him knowing. He names not only rapers but, rock groups who poped up out of no where aswell. Some of the biggest names in rap. Either he knows this happened, or he's completely insane. But i beleive him, after hearing him come up with some of the sickest flows ever! It's a hell of a conspiracy theory, but here's some names:Kanye West,50 cent, Shop Boys, TIP, Boosie, Huricane Chris, JZ, Lil Josh... the list goes on. Again, no proof, he's a nobody, but I heard him rip apart all of these in his flows. He explained, in Kanye's stronger, one line makes no sense. "the christian and and kristen dior" He says was originally "From Kristy to Kristen dejure". Christian dior was a french clothes designer born in 1905! The song is about a baby moma breakup, he said, not a dead guy. "me likie" somethin she used to say, he said. This is only 1 example of hundreds. He goes on and on like this. This is a long post, but not long enough...!
O Wayne and Lil Wayne too. Expecting alot of feedback.
