Top 7 Emcees who Never Released a solo album

No, it's not The Roots, it's Black Thought!

There's a whole bunch of emcees out there that we love and hear all the time, but for some unforeseen reason have never released a solo album. There's been mixtapes, rumors of albums, recording of album that never came out and then just not wanting to do a solo album. Hey fellas, this is what the fans want, can't you just accommodate us? Here are seven emcees (yes, we put them in a line and they all could rhyme), that we think need to drop a solo LP as soon as possible.


7. Crooked I - Before The Game came out, everybody was hailing Crooked I as the West's savior. That never happened. Maybe being signed to Death Row Records had something to with that. What's the latest?


6. Chal 2na - Out the gate, Chali 2na was probably the most interesting cat in the Jurassic 5 crew. Ever since the group debut, fans have been begging for a solo. He's been working on one called Fish Outta Water, which has been delayed, but will it ever drop?


5. Zack De La Rocha - When he left Rage Against the Machine, Zack said he was going to put out a hip-hop album. We're still waiting. He had tracks produced by folks like ?uestlove and DJ Shadow, so what's the deal? It's been like 6 or 7 years already.


4. Treach - Treach is another emcee fans have been wanting to do a solo album for years. His personality is too big for Naughty By Nature. Word is that Treach is working on one and another Naughty album too. Will they ever come out?


3. Elzhi - The only reason I was excited Elzhi joined Slum Village was because I knew there was an album coming out with him all over it. Still, a solo album is what we want. Apparently his shelved solo album is like one of hottest albums to never see the light of day.


2. Posdnous - Pos actually grew into his own over the years, and after De la Soul's Buhloone Mind State came out he needed a solo album. Lyrically, Pos is one of the best in the industry but is hardly recognized as such. Pos, please do a solo album!


1. Black Thought - The Roots isn't anything without Black Thought, but Black Thought could blow up without The Roots. Everybody has been dying to hear Thought rip through an entire album of hip-hop beats produced by the likes of Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Just Blaze or even Kanye West. Lets hope his Masterpiece Theater happens one day.
